How to Use

Follow these steps carefully for the most accurate tremor measurement. Proper phone positioning makes a significant difference in result quality.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Phone Position
โœ“ CORRECT
Upright ยท Screen toward you Arm relaxed at side Elbow slightly bent
Phone vertical, screen facing you, arm hanging naturally
โœ— WRONG
Arm extended forward Phone horizontal Distorts sensor data
Avoid extending arm or holding phone flat โ€” inaccurate readings
Hand Grip
How firmly you grip the phone changes results
๐Ÿคฒ
Relaxed
Loose natural hold, not tense
BEST
โœ‹
Normal
Regular everyday grip
OK
โœŠ
Tight
Suppresses tremor signal
AVOID
Step-by-Step Guide
1
Sit down and relax first
Sit on a chair, feet flat on the floor. Wait at least 5 minutes after any physical activity. Emotional stress, walking, or physical exertion right before the test can raise tremor readings significantly.
2
Calibrate on a flat surface
Tap Calibrate and place the phone completely still on a table or flat surface. Calibration takes 5 seconds and measures background sensor noise to build your personal baseline. Do not touch the phone or the table during calibration.
3
Hold the phone correctly
Pick up the phone in your dominant hand (or the hand you feel is most affected):

โœ“ Upright โ€” vertical, like you're reading a message
โœ“ Screen toward you โ€” portrait orientation
โœ“ Arm at your side โ€” hanging naturally, elbow slightly bent
โœ“ Grip relaxed โ€” loose hold, fingers not tensed
4
Tap Start โ€” listen to voice instructions
Tap Start Measurement. Your phone will speak positioning instructions โ€” make sure your volume is on. Then for 30 seconds:

โœ“ Do not intentionally stabilize โ€” let your hand be natural
โœ“ Breathe normally โ€” don't hold your breath
โœ“ Look straight ahead โ€” not down at the phone
โœ“ Stay seated โ€” don't shift or move your body
5
Review results & repeat for accuracy
Results appear automatically after 30 seconds. For best accuracy: take 2โ€“3 measurements and compare. Measure at different times of day. Single readings can be affected by mood, caffeine, or posture.
Accuracy Tips
โ˜•
Avoid coffee, tea, or energy drinks for 1 hour before measuring โ€” stimulants elevate physiological tremor in everyone.
๐Ÿ˜ด
Fatigue increases tremor. If you are tired or unwell, note it. Results may be higher than your baseline.
๐Ÿ“…
Measure at the same time each day for consistent trend data over weeks.
๐ŸŒก๏ธ
Cold hands stiffen muscles. If your hands are cold, warm them up before measuring.
๐Ÿ’Š
Some medications (beta-blockers, antidepressants, steroids) can suppress or amplify tremor. Always tell your doctor which medications you take.
Features
๐Ÿ”Š
Voice Instructions
When a measurement starts, TremorCheck automatically speaks positioning reminders using your phone's built-in text-to-speech. Make sure volume is on. The voice says: hold upright, screen toward you, arm relaxed, breathe normally, stay still.
๐Ÿ“ท
Head Camera Analysis (Optional)
TremorCheck can simultaneously analyse head tremor using your front camera alongside the hand/body sensor measurement. This uses MediaPipe Face Landmarker AI running entirely on your device โ€” no video is ever uploaded.

How to enable: On the Measure screen, toggle Head Camera Analysis on before starting. The first time, it downloads ~8 MB of AI model data (cached after that).

During measurement: A camera preview appears above the timer showing 478 face landmark points tracked in real time. Keep your face fully in the frame throughout the 30 seconds.

Results: After the measurement, the Results page shows two separate scores โ€” ๐Ÿคš Hand/Body and ๐Ÿ‘ค Head โ€” each with their own dominant frequency. A Frequency Correlation analysis checks whether both segments are trembling at the same frequency, which is a clinically significant finding for Parkinson's disease.

Tips for accuracy:
  • Good lighting โ€” face clearly visible
  • Look straight ahead, not down at the phone
  • Phone propped at arm's length on a surface, or held by someone else
  • Works best in a regular (non-incognito) browser window
๐Ÿ“ง
Send to Doctor
After a measurement, enter your doctor's email in the Results tab. TremorCheck generates a professional PDF report with all measurements, frequency analysis, and a clinical reference table โ€” and sends it directly. No external app needed.
