Frequently Asked Questions

Using the App
TremorCheck uses standard accelerometer hardware (50 Hz sample rate) with FFT analysis. It can detect rhythmic tremor in the 1–12 Hz range. However, accuracy varies by device quality, hand position, and environment. It is intended as a screening indicator — not a clinical measurement tool.
Calibration measures the background noise and gravity component of your specific phone's accelerometer while it's perfectly still. Without calibration, the default baseline (0.5 m/s²) may not match your device, leading to inflated or deflated amplitude readings.
Hold your phone upright (portrait orientation) in one hand with a relaxed grip, arm hanging naturally at your side or resting on your lap. Don't move your hand intentionally — let the phone rest in your natural resting position for the full 30 seconds.
You can stop early using the Stop button, but the result will be marked as incomplete and will not be saved to your history. For reliable results, complete the full 30-second measurement. Incomplete measurements should be repeated.
For monitoring purposes, measuring 1–3 times per day is sufficient. Measure at different times — morning, afternoon, and evening — as tremor can vary. Trends over multiple weeks are more meaningful than individual measurements.
Technical Issues
Brave blocks device sensors by default for privacy. To fix: tap the Lion/Shield icon in the address bar → toggle off "Block device sensors" → reload the page. You may also switch to Chrome or Safari for a better experience.
iOS 13+ requires user permission to access motion sensors. When you tap Calibrate or Start, a permission dialog appears. Tap "Allow". If you previously denied it: Settings → Safari → Motion & Orientation Access → enable. The app must be served over HTTPS for this to work.
Head camera analysis requires camera permission in your browser. If the camera doesn't start:

Chrome/Edge: Click the camera icon in the address bar → Allow → reload.
Safari (iOS): Settings → Safari → Camera → Allow.
Firefox: Click the camera blocked icon in the address bar and allow access.
Incognito / Private mode: Camera is often blocked in private browsing — use a regular window.

The first use also downloads ~8 MB of AI model data, so a stable internet connection is needed initially.
No. Head camera analysis runs entirely on your device using the MediaPipe AI library. No video frames, images, or facial data are ever sent to our servers or any third party. Only the computed numerical head tremor score is optionally saved with your results — identical to how sensor data is handled.
This is by design. The algorithm requires three factors to be elevated simultaneously: frequency in the 4–6 Hz range, amplitude above your baseline, AND high spectral clarity. This conservative approach prevents false positives from everyday hand movement. If you have a genuine tremor, consistent measurements over several days should show elevated scores.
Try calibrating the sensor first before measuring. Without calibration, the default baseline may be too low for your device. Also ensure you're holding the phone still — even intentional stabilization effort can introduce rhythmic micro-tremors. Measure in a relaxed, seated position.
Account & Data
No. You can use TremorCheck fully without an account. Your measurements are stored locally on your device. Creating an account lets you sync data across devices and access your history from anywhere.
Yes. Without an account, data never leaves your device. With an account, data is stored on our servers encrypted in transit via HTTPS. We never sell your data or use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
In the History tab, tap the āœ• button on any measurement to delete it individually. To delete all local data, clear your browser's site data in Settings. To delete your account entirely, contact us at info@tremorcheck.pro.
